This app was created as a means to promote responsible drinking by bringing attention to the various effects alcohol has on our minds and bodies.
The app will take you through a series of short tests which will examine your stability and reaction time, as well as your walking and speech patterns. These tests are based off scientific research that can be found online.
Let the phone decide how drunk you are.
Why We Do What We Do
This app is meant to bring awareness to your intoxication and discourage driving under the influence.
By combining scientific findings and a simple fun method of testing we hope to achieve this goal.
The Tests
Gait Analysis

When a person comes under the influence of alcohol their walking pattern changes. Using a custom algorithm and your smartphones various sensors CareBeer analyses your steps.
Should your gate be inconsistent with your sober state, alcohol may be the culprit.
Inspecting User Reaction
Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee
It's no secret that alcohol in your bloodstream slows you down, so it's unsurprising that we test for this too.
The time it takes you to react and the consistency of this ability is a key factor in CareBeers algorithm.
Using a friendly UI and short little test it determines how quickly your mind operates without compromising the quality of its decisions.
Speech Pattern Examination

Another common effect of alcohol is its effect on our speech. Suddenly puases are more common, their length is less regular and in some cases we may even slur. With the help of an advanced Voice Activity Detection algorithm CareBeer makes sure to take this into account.
Testing For Stability
Steady as she goes
Lastly, and certainly not least(ly), CareBeer takes a peek at how stable you are. Using the smartphones gyrometer hardware the app determines how stable you are compared to your usual self. Are you swaying? Not quite standing straight? We'll be the judge of that.

CareBeer was made with the goal of bringing awareness to the effect of alcohol on your body. Being declared sober by our app does not guarantee the law will agree.
If you drank you should not drive.
